@johnlapuma took this photo earlier this week: a rare sky of Asperitas clouds, rolling overhead like an agitated, inverted sea.
Farming organically means living entirely in sync with these dynamic atmospheric systems, where healthy living soil works with natural climate pulses rather than synthetic shortcuts.
When we host visitors on the farm, this is the connection we want them to feel/ With harvest now in full swing and produce thriving, mornings like this ground everything we do.

Smells like rotten meat, packed with antioxidants, and inedible. This is a Clathrus ruber commonly known as a lattice stinkhorn. While it contains beta-carotene and lycopene just like tomatoes, this is one mushroom you definitely want to leave alone. But its presence is actually a great sign for the surrounding trees. Fungi like this break down decaying wood, recycling vital nutrients back into the soil and keeping the local ecosystem healthy. Golden rule of foraging: if you don’t know what it is with 100% certainty, do not eat it.🍄

Summer is here and bursting with color. Eating with the seasons isn`t just a culinary trend, it helps you treat food as medicine. When fruits and vegetables are harvested at their natural peak maturity, their nutrient density is at an all-time high. Since they don`t spend weeks in storage or traveling thousands of miles across the globe, they retain the full force of their live vitamins, enzymes, and specialized plant compounds. When you choose to align your plate with the summer sun, your biology reaps the direct rewards.☀️
Eating seasonally means you are getting the most potent, nutrient-packed version of your food available. It’s nature’s original preventative medicine, cheaper, fresher, and more powerful than a supplement.
Save this graphic for your next shopping trip, and tell us below: What is your absolute favorite summer fruit or veggie?🍉 🥕

Friday on the farm.🥑 At La Puma Farms we grow organic fruits, vegetables, flowers and more in the heart of Santa Barbara. We use regenerative farming techniques, avoiding synthetic artificial chemicals and improving the nutrient density and flavor of what we grow. Regenerative farming creates a healthy microbiome for the soil, captures carbon and respects the planet. Healthier soil = healthier food = healthier you.🌎 💙

80% of U.S. adults and 87% of our children now have detectable levels of glyphosate (the active ingredient in Roundup) in their systems. As the Supreme Court weighs whether Bayer can be shielded from failure-to-warn lawsuits, we need to speak plainly about the biological tax of this exposure. As a clinician and a farmer, my stance is clear: Homeowners and gardeners do not need glyphosate. The fix isn`t inside a courtroom. It’s how we grow what we eat and how we reclaim the immediate environment where we live.
I’ve built a simple protocol to help you take that control back. Comment YES and I’ll send you my free 7-Day Outdoor Rx, plus how to keep chemicals out of your garden, soil, and food.

Keeping bees 🐝 for pollination is an important part of our regenerative farm practices. This is swarm season and we often lose a hive and gain one. Bees swarm to escape predators, because they are crowded, because it’s too hot, because they need a new home 🏠 They too don’t like being kept inside too much! #regenerativefarming #beekeepers #swarm #indoorepidemic #organicfarming ...
