Smells like rotten meat, packed with antioxidants, and inedible. This is a Clathrus ruber commonly known as a lattice stinkhorn. While it contains beta-carotene and lycopene just like tomatoes, this is one mushroom you definitely want to leave alone. But its presence is actually a great sign for the surrounding trees. Fungi like this break down decaying wood, recycling vital nutrients back into the soil and keeping the local ecosystem healthy. Amazing 3 acre hidden, quiet urban organic orchard and regenerative farm & gardens. In a secret valley in Santa Barbara, with roadways and paths throughout. Many different looks on one ranch: resort-like, vineyard, picnic places, rustic, refined, bucolic, forested, tropical, sandy and desert-like. Secluded and gated. Unique features include wild biodiversity in the city, rural setting with minimal traffic, proximity to both the beach and downtown in less than 10 minutes, and many different areas: avocado ranch, plumeria trees, medicinal/culinary/herb gardens, olive allée, citrus and pomegranate groves, mangoes and cherimoyas, a passion fruit tunnel, a Gamay Noir vineyard, scrub oak forest and trail, and open plateaus of beach sand. Crew and truck parking with plenty of basecamp room. Very little overhead or road traffic and a single two lane quiet road surrounds. Easily accessible.

    What to Plant in August? ⁠ ⁠ August might feel like peak summer, but it’s still a great time to plant crops that thrive in warm soil and deliver harvests into the fall. Planting in-season supports soil health and ensures your garden stays productive and nutrient-rich. Here’s what to plant now—and why:⁠ ⁠ Leafy Greens 🥬: Sow quick-growing greens like arugula, spinach, and lettuce now for a fall harvest. Many will be ready in just 30–45 days and prefer the cooling temps ahead.⁠ ⁠ Root Vegetables 🥕: Carrots, beets, and radishes do well when planted in late summer.
